Jennifer Baumgart
Where logic, applied AI and creativity meet and user experience comes first
Talk to meAbout Me

Hi, I'm Jennifer Baumgart! I build technology that understands people. Not just their clicks, but their constraints, their context, and the moments where a poorly designed interface can quietly exclude someone from something important. My work lives at the intersection of AI Engineering, frontend architecture, and human-centred design. I architect agentic systems and LLM pipelines with a focus on making AI safe, reliable, and genuinely useful in production, not just impressive in demos. I care deeply about the guardrails as much as the capabilities, and I see AI not as a standalone tool, but as a medium to enhance human decision-making. That commitment to inclusive design isn't just a professional stance; it's personal. Navigating the world with Autism and ADHD, alongside chronic conditions like EDS and POTS, has given me an intuitive understanding of cognitive load, accessibility, and what it means when technology doesn't account for the full spectrum of human experience. I don't build for the average user. I build for real people. As I move into a Master's in Artificial Intelligence in the UK, I'm deepening my research into ML for healthcare and accessibility, pursuing the kind of work where technical rigour and social responsibility aren't in tension. They're the same goal.
Education & Experience

Fundamentals and First Steps
Education:
Introductory courses in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, combined with self-study on online platforms.
Experience:
- Built simple, fully responsive personal websites, experimenting with design principles and accessibility.
- Completed beginner projects to solidify core programming concepts and layout structures.
Advanced Learning and First Professional Experience
Education:
Started the Foundation Degree (UK Level 5 equivalent) in Computer Science & Software Development at UNINTER, focusing on web development and UX/UI.
Experience:
- Joined The Brooklyn Brothers as a Junior Front-End Developer, contributing to Unilever brands (AXE & SEDA) by building pixel-perfect, responsive components in Adobe Experience Manager.
- Performed DQM checks, collaborated with QA and DevOps to resolve issues via Jira/Wrike, and ensured zero critical launch errors.
- Enhanced UX skills through Google UX Design Certificate projects, moving from concept to high-fidelity prototypes.
Freelance and Skill Expansion
Education:
Completed specialised courses in React, Node.js, TypeScript, and accessibility best practices.
Experience:
- Worked as a freelance Developer and UX Designer, delivering responsive, accessible applications using React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
- Led end-to-end UX processes, translating client goals into wireframes, prototypes, and design systems with 98% design-to-code fidelity.
- Designed and implemented an integration between different platforms using AWS Lambda, API Gateway and EventBridge, automating data flows through REST APIs and delivering a reliable, cloud-native solution.
- Implemented inclusive design improvements (WCAG) that increased user satisfaction and engagement.
- Joined Minerva Controls as UX Designer and Frontend Developer, responsible for designing layouts and implementing production-facing screens for industrial data platforms.
Building Complex, Impact-Driven Solutions
Education:
Graduated with distinction (9.4/10) in Computer Science & Software Development. Completed Full-Stack Web Development Programme (Blusoft / SENAC) and The Web Developer Bootcamp.
Experience:
- At Minerva Controls, designed and implemented real-time, data-intensive dashboards using Figma, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python, improving usability for clients like Petrobrás and Ambev.
- Integrated RESTful APIs, streamlined complex workflows, and led automated testing implementation with Selenium and GitHub Actions CI/CD.
- Developed Compath, a SaaS platform using React, Next.js, and a Python KNN model to deliver AI-powered business recommendations with gamified UX flows.
- Built VidaPlus, a hospital management system with React, Node.js, Express, and PostgreSQL, focusing on usability, accessibility, and intuitive data management.
- Won 1st place at the Health Tech Hackathon: Conecta Saúde (2025) with Humanus, a career management platform for nurses and nursing technicians, built in just 3 nights using Next.js, Tailwind, and Node.js — consolidating my focus on human-centred, data-informed tools for health and care professionals.
- Began transitioning into AI Engineering, deepening expertise in Agentic AI, LLM application design, prompt engineering and applied AI in healthcare and accessibility.
AI Engineering and International Growth
Education:
Deepening expertise in Machine Learning, AI in healthcare and accessibility. Accepted onto a Master's Degree programme in Artificial Intelligence in the UK.
Experience:
- Working as AI Engineer at Straas Tech, focused on Agentic AI and LLM application engineering, including RAG pipelines, tool calling, evaluations, guardrails and prompt engineering.
- Building and leading Texlink end to end — from product strategy, UX and frontend to backend, database, DevOps and deployment — digitising and structuring B2B supplier management for the textile industry.
- Continuing to deepen applied AI research at the intersection of healthcare, accessibility and human-centred design.
